First of all I wish to welcome all (German-speaking - sorry, the questionable article has not been translated yet) journalists of you as here comes the unique possibility of a crash course on "How to write about at the internet"!
However, how about a cool German beer as served by the KOM-Brewery Telebräu AG ! Sorry, this article is also intended for German-speaking persons. It is a humouresk story on the German Telekom and their phone rates. The prices it points out to were introduced 1st January 1996, when German Telekom was the only provider of phone services in Germany yet.
Obviously there is no BOFH without a
DAU (Note:
DAU is a German acronym for "dümster anzunehmender
User" and stands for the "stupidest user ever imagined".)
:What if people bought cars like they buy computers
?
Well, might be you are still not sure about your own status ;-) Just for
clarification: The
Hacker Test or "How to
know of being a netaddict"(German, sorry)!
As U now, everything goes better with music. Thus, here comes a page
dedicated to one of my favoured bands:
The
Inchtabokatables - NO GUITARS !
As this page has been written in German, too, let me add
some information about the "Inchties": No Guitars means no guitars: The
Inchtabokatables play folk-rock-punk-indie somewhere between
Einstürzende Neubauten and Pogues (as the journal "Musikexpress" put
it), but only with four-string-instruments
(violin, cello, bass) and drums. The last album of this (East-)Berlin Band,
"ULTRA", was produced by New Model Armie's Justin Sullivan at London's Red
Fort Studios.
Would you like it still "folky" but a bit heavier and darker? In this case I
suggest
Subway to Sally , a Potsdam (near Berlin)
based band.
Or what about Nick
Cave & the Bad Seeds - with Blixa Bargeld from
"Einstürzende Neubauten"?
BTW: ever
heard of the German composer
Kurt Weill ? He's the composer of
Bertolt Brecht's famous Dreigroschenoper , one of my favourite
screenplays.
Back to straight rockmusic. A favourite band of mine that no longer
exists since their lead singer Tamara Danz died in Summer 1996, is "Silly".
This is a page in memoriam Tamara Danz.
And finally, there is the entrance to the
World Wide Weiberspace...
("Weiber" is the German word for "bitches", and rhymes with "cyber" :)
However, "Weiber", and its singular "Weib", has not always had this negative
meaning - in earlier times, the word was a synonym for "women", and used
in everyday language.

Last words: If U ever doubted the existence of a German city called
Bielefeld - here is the evidence:
Bielefeld does not exist!
And finally, for those who wish to leave the present chaos as rapid as
possible: the
Rail Schedule Information Desk .
This page is dedicated to Richard, and he knows why! ;)
